A Life Redacted transforms transcripts from the A Friend for the Long Haul podcast to reveal fragmented moments of living with Long COVID in Colorado. Conversations about chronic illness, disability, and parenting emerge through what remains visible on the page. The selective redactions create a visual poetry of absence and presence, mirroring the experience of life interrupted by illness, while highlighting the persistent threads of loss, grief, connection, and a fight to be heard.
Beth Meier is a Fort Collins-based podcast host and disability advocate who believes that memes are tiny prayers. When spoons allow, she produces A Friend for the Long Haul, hoping to create community and connection for people living with Long COVID, ME/CFS, chronic illness, and disability. She is a mother of four children, some of whom are navigating their own disabilities. Beth works in disability employment. Fall is her favorite season, and her favorite Dolly Parton song is "Light of a Clear Blue Morning."
